What should I do to recover after running the Johnson Arabia Dubai Creek Striders Half Marathon?
First of all, congratulations – the end is in sight. It is important to remember, though, that it doesn’t end on race day. The recovery period is vital to bouncing back efficiently, and it begins the moment you cross the finishing line. Instead of stopping moving, walk around or freewheel as you cool down, then spend a decent amount
of time stretching.
For the next 36 hours or so resting, refuelling and rehydrating should be your priority. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and opt for nutritionally balanced meals. Use this time as both your well-deserved break and chance to take stock of your achievement before planning your next adventure.
