INGREDIENTS

100ml full fat milk
10g spinneysFOOD Caster Sugar
80g spinneysFOOD All-Purpose flour, sieved
A pinch of spinneysFOOD Salt
5g baking powder
1 spinneysFOOD Organic Free Range Egg
3 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and diced into 2cm pieces
500ml spinneysFOOD Sunflower Oil
100g spinneysFOOD Caster Sugar
10g spinneysFOOD Cinnamon Powder
spinneysFOOD Organic Maple Syrup, to serve

METHOD

    In a medium sized bowl, make a batter by whisking together the milk, first quantity of caster sugar, flour, salt, baking powder and egg until smooth and no lumps remain.

    Heat the oil in a saucepan to 150°C.

    With a spoon, take 3 pieces of apple and coat together in the batter, making a ‘ball’. With the help of a second spoon, scrape each ‘ball’ into the oil – avoid overcrowding the saucepan. Fry each ‘ball’ until golden brown. Remove and drain on kitchen paper.

    Mix together the second amount of caster sugar with the cinnamon powder. Toss the warm fritters in the cinnamon sugar, serve warm with maple syrup.
