Lentil Soup

It's customary to start with soup at iftar as it's easy for your body to absorb. Try this delicious recipe for a hearty start to your meal

INGREDIENTS

2 tbsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 cup orange lentils washed and drained
6 cups water and/or chicken stock
½ tsp spinneysFOOD Cumin Powder
¼ tsp spinneysFOOD Turmeric (optional)
spinneysFOOD Salt and Black Pepper to taste

METHOD

    Over medium-low heat, sauté the garlic and onions until translucent

  • 2

    Add the lentils and cook for an additional 3 minutes

  • 3

    Add the liquid and bring to the boil, then simmer for 1 hour on low heat

  • 4

    For a smooth soup, purée in a blender or use an emulsion blender. If you like a chunky texture, leave as is
