Sesame-seared tuna with avocado and mango salsa

Serves: 4 Prepare & Cook:


  • TUNA
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 4cm piece ginger, grated
  • 4 tsp miso paste
  • 4 tsp sesame oil
  • 4 tsp soy sauce
  • 4 tuna steaks (200g each)
  • 4 tsp black sesame seeds
  • 4 tsp white sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 avocados
  • 1 mango (approx 300g)
  • ½ red onion
  • juice of 1 lime
  • spinneysFOOD Coriander Micro Herbs, to garnish


  1. Combine the garlic, ginger, miso, sesame oil and soy in a dish. Add the tuna and turn to coat. Mix the sesame seeds then sprinkle over the tuna, coating both sides evenly.
  2. Set a large griddle pan with the coconut oil over a medium-high heat. Once hot, grill the tuna steaks for 4 minutes, turning halfway, until seared on the outside but still pink in the centre.
  3. Meanwhile, chop the avocados, mango and onion and combine in a bowl with the lime juice.
  4. Slice the tuna and arrange on a large plate. Garnish with the micro herbs and serve with the salsa.
