Ownership and Company History

Spinneys was formed in 1924 by Arthur Rawdon Spinney - a British soldier posted in Lebanon who identified the need for imported goods unavailable locally. The first store in the UAE opened in Deira, Dubai in 1961. Mr, Ali Albwardy took total ownership of Spinneys Dubai LLC in April 1999.
