One of Dubai Marina’s newest eateries, Soul Santé, proudly claims to be a vegan, gluten-free, soy and sugar-free café that follows the principles of Ayurveda. Owner and health coach Manisha Advani has been a vegetarian since she was 12, so the switch to veganism came quite easily to her. “I noticed how dairy made me feel and realised it was doing more damage than good to my body. Since I’ve turned vegan, I have never felt more energetic or alive,” explains Manisha.

The restaurant has a lot of natural sunlight. It also has a long community table with stationary bikes instead of chairs, so you can work your glutes and quads as you sip on juices or smoothies.

The pulled jackfruit tacos with beans and purple cabbage slaw are served with a generous slice of avocado, paper-thin slices of radish, jalapeños, and a spicy mayo drizzled on top. The layered quinoa biryani with a coconut raita on the side makes for a filling meal. Its cardamom-flavoured spicy cashew sauce with veggies layered between turmeric-tinged quinoa is sure to please. Round off a meal with the peanut butter cup, which is Soul Santé’s version of a Reese’s cup. It’s filling, the peanut butter is chunky, and the calorie count (included in the menu) is almost half of the standard serving size of a Reese’s cup. Bottom line: Soul Santé is great for a quick bite or a lazy afternoon meal that’s better for your body.
